Sweet Summertime Fruit

Once in a while the timing of things works out perfectly, and I was happy to find that happened today in the process of making this card.

Last night I was looking at my challenge list and I came up with an idea for a card that combined a few of them. However, this morning before I got started there were two messages in my email that caught my attention. First was one from My Favorite Things promoting their “summer school.” The second was a design team call from the “Addicted to CAS” challenge blog. Both of those were incentives to put my idea into production!

My card is a single layer, clean and simple (CAS) design. I did a little masking of the fruit and heat embossed the words to give the appearance of some dimension. I stamped the images and colored them with Copic markers.

Before I started on my card I checked out the first day of My Favorite Things Summer School, and today’s lesson was on using a visual triangle for creating your card. I watched the video and thought immediately that the sketch I was working with would make a good example for the visual triangle idea, so that’s what I attempted to do.

The challenges I was inspired by were:

CAS on Friday (#185) – which has a theme of “Summer.”

Fusion – which also had a theme of “Summer” as well as a sketch challenge, from which I based my design on.

Inspired By ….. Challenge – with a theme of “Fruity Sentiments.”
