Fall Trees

A really unique challenge is the Twofer Card Challenge – in short the idea is to create two completely different cards that both include the same stamped image. The prompt for the current challenge (#31) is “Trees.” I used a stamp made be Carabelle Studio called “Big things….” that I bought last year and never used. Below you can see my two different designs that incorporate the same image.

On the first card I used some distress oxide inks to create a background of fall colors. I then blotted a wet paper towel on it to create a little “texture” and variation of the color. I trimmed it down a little and then stamped the tree image off the edge in black and added the sentiment.

The second card I first stamped the image in Momento London Fog gray ink. I then colored it with Copic markers. The gray more or less fades away with the colors, that is why you see only very faint lines. I used a gel pen to go over the small splatters around the tree. The sentiment was punched out and to give it a little more definition I used glitter glue to go around the edges.

There are several other challenges I would like to enter just the “Happy Fall” tree:

The Sisterhood of Crafters – theme of Autumn

Cute Card Thursday #651 – no patterned paper

Try Stampin’ On Tuesday #474 – use photo, use sketch, or both

Crafty Gals Corner #211 – Fall colors

Artsystamper #23 – Anything Goes

NBUS #18 – The stamp I used has been in the package since last year!

  3. You’ve created two beautiful Twofer tree cards, Melanie! I love the tree off the edge on your sympathy card and the way you achieved texture with the paper towel. And your fall design is amazing with your Copic coloring! Love the dots and the way there are leaves trickling down! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #31 and for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell

  4. That’s such a lovely, majestic tree, Melanie! The warm inked background with the added texture makes for a warm and comforting background for the silhouette stamped off the edge on your sympathy card … and your colouring on the canopy of rich leaves on the hello fall card is fabulous … the touch of gold glimmer is delicious! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita 🙂

  5. Two wonderful ways to use that stamp, Melanie! Beautiful sympathy card with your off the edge stamping. I love your coloring on your hello card and how you kept the lines very faint! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
