Colorful Birthday

My post today is one card I made for two great challenges! I combined the requirements of the challenge at Always Fun Challenges (#202) – which is to create a slimline card, with the challenge at Make the Cards Challenge (#5) – which is a color challenge (shown below).

(Challenge open until 2/28.)
(Challenge open until 2/27.)

I have really been enjoying making slimline cards, so that wasn’t a problem, but I was not too sure what to do with the colors. I finally decided on the crayon set I got from Honey Bee Stamps last year, but had not even used yet. The stamp is not quite as long as the slimline base is, but I was able to stamp two next to each other without any problem.

I colored the crayons with Copic markers, and to add a little texture and make a little bit of a background I used some matching inks with a small splatter stamp. The sentiment came with the set, I stamped it with black Versafine ink and then heat embossed it with clear powder.

After cutting a matte layer and mounting them on the base I added some hearts to finish it off!

Other challenges:

As You Like It – The question this challenge is “do you prefer rubber, clear, or digi when it comes to stamps?” – I prefer rubber, I think it makes for the cleanest lines, but of course the clear stamps are nice for helping line things up and getting things straight (well theoretically!), and finally I love digis because they don’t take up any storage space and you can size them to what you want. In conclusion I treat all stamps equally and have just as many of one kind as the others!
