Slimline Tulips

The card I am showing today was made for the new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (#410), which you can see below. I decided to rotate the sketch for my card design, which is why I have it pictured that way. Of course you can use it any orientation that inspires you! The link up for this challenge will be open through Sunday evening if you would like to join in!

When deciding what to do I looked at the challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare (#433) to give me some ideas for the colors I would use. This week they have a tic-tac-toe board, the three colors I used were from the far right column: Blue Belle – Grape – Glacier.

I started by heat embossing a tulip background stamp in white. I then used the three colors of distress oxide inks to “smoosh” over the image. I tried to get some areas where the colors showed up by themselves, but also enough blending so they would all flow together. I’m not sure if it turned out exactly as I wanted, but overall I was pretty happy with the result.

The rest of the card was pretty simple, I die cut a layer for the base, then another layer in white. I used a square die cut for the three window spots, the same die I used to cut out the colored squares. Those were inlaid in the white, and the last step was to heat emboss and die cut the sentiment, adhere it to the base, and add a few rhinestones to set it off.

I would like to join in these additional challenges:
