Rainbow Puzzle for Festive Friday

A new challenge has started at Festive Friday, and this time the festivity we are recognizing is World Autism Awareness Day. You can see the Inspo list below, and although the items on it were inspired by our festivity, your project can be any theme – just be sure to include at least three items from the Inspo list! You can find more details and the link up at the Festive Friday blog.

When I saw the list I knew there were a lot of possibilities for my card, and since I have been playing around with Distress Oxide inks lately I decided to make a rainbow background with them. This was done by the “smooshing” technique – putting some ink on a craft mat and spritzing it with water, then “smooshing” the paper in it to pick up the color. Of course when working with several colors the key is to get enough blending, but not too much or you will end up with “mud”!

I heat embossed the sentiment in black, then cut it out with the puzzle piece heart, along with two more. Three of them fit perfectly for a slimline card. Next I stamped, colored, and cut out the two mice (they are from a set by Sunny Studio Stamps), and finally put it all together.
