Recycled Butterflies

A great new challenge is starting today at the Stinkin’ Inkers Challenge Blog! This month the challenge is to use something on your card that is being recycled or repurposed. I immediately thought of all the different looks you could get by using an old newspaper, so that is what I used to create the butterflies and the background.

First I chose a piece to die cut for the background. I inked the edges a little bit with some black ink so that it would blend in a little better with the black. I then found some print that was colorful and die cut it with the butterfly, as well as one area I inked up in blue. I found another part that had some ombre looking brown so I cut that out too. I have a lot of vellum scraps so I found some that went well with each butterfly to use for backing.

Once the butterflies were done I used a film square die cut to arrange them on, and used one of the die cut rectangles to heat emboss the sentiment. That was placed back in one of the spaces. To finish off the card I added some pearls in the centers of the butterflies.

I really liked trying something a little different for this card, and kind of surprised myself with how easily it all came together. If you want to find something to reuse instead of throwing it away, we’d love to see your creation in the gallery at Stinkin’ Inkers this month!

I would like to join in these additional challenges:
