What’s the Word, Bird?

These fun little birds came to mind when I saw the sketch that started today at Freshly Made Sketches (#481). I also used the colors from the challenge at Color Throwdown (#638). I feel like I cheated because I didn’t come up with the design or the colors myself!

The bird stamps came with a set from My Favorite Things. I used my Misti to line them up and to make sure I got a nice, evenly colored image. I colored in the beaks with orange at first, but decided it didn’t look right, so I colored over them with black. They looked too dark, so I added some white highlights, which seemed to do the trick. Lastly, as I was looking through my stamps for a sentiment, I found “What’s the word, bird?” and thought it worked perfectly and would make a great card to send to someone I haven’t talked to in a while.

I would also like to join in the challenges at International Art & Soul #106 – Winged Creatures and at Little Red Wagon #597 – In the Air Tonight.
