Double Trouble #130

Hello! We are starting another challenge today at Double Trouble.

The requirement by Thing 1 is to include some stitching on your card. Any kind is OK – real, die cuts, or even hand drawn. If you do that you can enter your card in the gallery.

Thing 3 has the optional twist to include a mythical or magical creature on your card. If you do this you can also do Thing 2’s double dare, which is to enter your card in our partner challenge, The Fairy and the Unicorn.

Both the stamp and die cut I used for my card have been sitting in my stash for a long time, and I don’t know where they came from or who made them. The image was colored and cut out, and the die cut was used to create the opening, along with some bubbles, the seaweed, and the other small details. I made the blue background with some distress oxide inks and added some translucent embossing paste over it to create the bubbles (look very faint in the background but a bit shiny in real life). I colored on the die cut piece and layered on some additional fish, bubbles, and stars for dimension.

  2. Melanie: Fin-tastic card!!! 🙂 Just had to do a pun! The stitched lines’ curves remind me of waves! So that makes an extra special detail! The underwater scene is really great! Always love seeing mermaids linked at TFATU! Thanks! –Becca/owner

  3. What a super cute card, Melanie! I love how you’ve framed your mermaid. And all that texture is wonderful…the fish, the bubbles, the seaweed; it looks like she’s in an aquarium. Your image coloring is spot on and coordinates so well with the other colors you’ve chosen. Thanks so much for linking this beauty up with our LRW ‘Sea’ theme challenge this week. We hope to SEA you again, soon! – Shani
