Two for Tuesday

Somehow I seem to end up making a lot of cards that are beach or ocean themed, even though quite honestly the temperatures we’ve been having here in AZ make me wish that summer was over with!

This first card was inspired by several challenges with a beach theme, so I combined them with the sketch challenge at the Paper Players (#505). To make the background I heat embossed a large stamp from Simon Says Stamp with pearl embossing powder, then cut it into three pieces as shown on the sketch. I “smooshed” each piece in a different color distress oxide ink, then put them back together on the card front. It looked a little dull so I spritzed it with a shimmer spray. The flip flops and shells were stamped and colored with Copic markers.

The second challenge is Time Out Challenges (#168) – photo inpiration

Next is the Card Concept (#138d) – photo inpiration

Finally I would like to enter the challenge at Make My Monday (#129) which has a theme of “on the beach.”

My second card also combines several challenges, and sticks to a CAS design. I masked off the waves with some tape I cut with a die cut, then used distress oxide ink to color the bottom portion. The fish are just stamped and fussy cut, with a little shimmer added, although not really visible in the photo. To put on the sentiment I used a photopolymer stamp that I could put in the Misti and curve it a little to follow the wave line.

The first challenge I worked with was the sketch at CAS(e) this Sketch! (#386), and I am showing it below upside down on purpose, since that is the way it inspired me!

The other challenges I am joining are CAS on Friday (#18) – theme is “Under the Sea.”

Just Add Ink (#519) – Color Challenge

Cardz 4 Galz (#123) – theme is Monochrome – used shades of blue

Krafty Chicks (#521) – CAS
