Shades of Purple

Welcome and hope your having a great day! Today’s card is for challenge #2 at Make the Cards Challenge, and this week we have a color challenge – use primarily shades of purple on your creation.

One of my favorite ways to incorporate several shades of just one color is to use distress oxide inks with a blending brush. I first stamped the flowers and sentiment with black ink and then heat embossed them with clear powder. This makes them resistant to the ink. I used some masking paper to create a section across the middle where I wanted the color. Using two different purples I carefully applied just the right amount of ink and pressure to blend the shades of purple. I added a dark purple matte behind the white piece before mounting it on a white card base.

This new challenge goes until Saturday, 2/6. From all the entries one will be chosen that has the opportunity to join the next challenge as a featured creator. Please visit the Make the Cards Challenge blog for all the details and to see the rest of the design teams creations!
