CAS Toucan

This week the theme over at Always Fun Challenges (#211) is to create a “Clean and Simple” card (CAS). This is a style that can be difficult, especially if you like to add a lot of bling or layers to your cards. The idea is to have a lot of white space, very little (if any) layers or embellishments, and a single focal point. If you’d like to create a CAS card to post in the gallery the challenge will go until 5/1.

The image I used is from a Stampin’ Up set called “Bird Banter.” I colored it with Copic markers and used hexagon die cuts from My Favorite Things. I wanted to extend the branch over the edge of the die to follow the sketch (shown below), but I accidentally cut it off. Luckily, with a little careful trimming, I was able to attach it back on without it being too noticeable. (Now if you look you will notice!)

Other challenges:

Hand Stamped Sentiments #362 – sketch

Stamplorations April CAS – anything goes CAS

Creative Knockouts #398 – Wings and Things

Unicorn Challenge #64 – Include an animal
