CAS Feliz Navidad

There’s a special challenge going on at CAS Colours & Sketches for their last challenge of the year and their 450th challenge. Instead of providing a sketch or colors this time you are to choose one of this year’s previous challenges (or a combination of a sketch and color challenge) but to make your card have a seasonal theme.

I decided to use a sketch and a color challenge as the inspiration for my card:

The QUICK and SIMPLE details: My order from Divinity Designs Stamps arrived a few days ago so I was anxious to use this new Christmas cactus before Christmas. I colored it with Copic markers, and used a silver metallic gel pen for the light string. I also added some silver shimmer pen over the pot to give my coloring a little shine. Since I live in Arizona I decided to use the more Southwest sentiment of Feliz Navidad instead of Merry Christmas. I heat embossed that on a separate piece of paper and used a die cut to create a strip and give it a border. To make it appear as if the pot was stamped right on it I cut the sides of the pot from the bottom to carefully slide the strip underneath. To do that I had to cut off the bottom of the panel, so I just adhered another piece to the back of it it to make it the right size again. (The die cut strip hides the cut.) Once all back together I die cut the whole piece with the angle stitched die, and to work in a little more of the pink I mounted it on the pink base.

I would like to join in these additional challenges:

Little Red Wagon #632 – Do they know it’s Christmas?

AAA Cards #205 – Christmas

CAS on Friday #220 – Christmas
