Just Us Girls – alcohol ink + foil

I was happy to see the new challenge at Just Us Girls this week is to use alcohol ink and foil. I recently spent a few hours making a bunch of alcohol ink backgrounds, which I love having on hand, but this gave me a little motivation to put at least one of them to use! I used an embossing pen and gold gilding flakes to add just a touch of foil to the background on the one I wanted to use.

I also recently saw a blog post (I wish I could remember whose it was to give them credit) which gave some ideas of ways to use alcohol ink backgrounds, without covering up so much that you take away from them. So I used one of the ideas to add just a black and white floral image, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I normally love to color flowers, but this allowed the background be the star of the show (and a lot quicker too)!

  1. What a beautiful creation! The alcohol inks with the gold are stunning, and that embossed black background really makes the whole thing pop. Such a sweet card, and so beautifully designed! Lots of fabulous work here, thanks so much for playing along with us for the last time over at the Mod Squad. I am very sad that we are retiring, it has been a great ride. Hope to see you around the web!!
