Festive Friday #117 – World Alzheimer’s Day

It’s Festive Friday! We have a new challenge starting today, and this time our festivity is “World Alzheimer’s Day.” (September 21, 2022) We used that to come up with ten items for our Inspo List, and if you would like to join the challenge just choose any 3 (or more) of those items to use on your card or project. Whether or not you follow the theme of the festivity is totally up to you!

The items I featured from the Inspo List were purple, red, die cut, and balloon. I haven’t really made many shaker cards, but with the balloon die being pretty big I thought I would give it a try. I did find it worked well to cover the opening with some acetate, then add the foam tape on the back just around the balloon outline. (left side of photo) I set the “filling” on the purple base, and then added some more foam tape around the rest of the panel, and adhered it over the filling. This keeps the shaker elements within that balloon shape.

The die set is from Honey Bee Stamps, I’m not sure about the sentiment. The second balloon was embossed and sanded a little, I added some strings, and a few sequins to finish it off.

  1. Such a perfect card for this week’s challenge, Melanie! The embossing adds so much texture. I LOVE shaker cards, but sadly I never make them. The die cut sentiment is amazing. Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Melanie, I love the idea of the balloon die as a shaker. I need to steal that idea! I also love the texture of your red ballon. Such a fabulous card
