OCAD – February 2024

I started my OCAD challenge 1/30/24, and decided to start posting them to my blog. I don’t want to write a post every day so decided to do a monthly recap of all the cards I’ve completed. (Click HERE or the OCAD page on the menu bar for more details.)

Since quite a few cards are for my commitments to different design teams, I will post the link to that particular post. Occasionally some may show an error until the challenge goes live, but eventually they will all be current, at that time I will add the photos.

2/1/24

Today I continued using two of the techniques from the video I posted last month called “5 Ways to Use Sprays” by Tiffany Solorio.

This time I made a smooshed background and used a spray with a stencil over it and a second card using the spray in an embossing folder.

2/5/24

Used a new “no waste” cover die from Altenew that I have never used before for this card. This was for a challenge and you can see the post HERE.

2/6/24

Today’s card was for a challenge requiring a “vintage” look. You can see the post HERE.

2/7/24

Created a card for a challenge using a never been used Newton’s Nook image. You can see the post HERE.

2/8/24

I have participated in several virtual card making events and classes. Today I finished a lesson from a class by Jennifer McGuire as part of an event by Pinkfresh Studios. These are the completed cards using the products from the class:

2/10/24

Big card making event today! Completed 14 cards as part of the Scrapbook & Cards Today online Celebrations event.

2/12/24

Today I made a card with some wax seals, I just got the kit from Spellbinders and wanted to try it out. I made a card that I will post HERE for a new challenge (5/11/24). I also made a second card for two other challenges using some new dies that were part of a Spellbinders set.

2/13/24

Used white inlaid die cuts w/pieces all embossed with different folders. This was a technique I was inspired by from a recent card swap I participated in. The card is featured on the post you can find HERE (on 5/25/24).

2/14/24

This card features a new stamp and die set from the Spellbinders monthly club. This was made for and submitted to a Spellbinders challenge. The background was made from a sprayed and embossed panel.

2/15/24

Today’s card was made for a challenge, you can find the post HERE.

2/16/24

Cards today were made from the classes of a Let’s Stamp Together kit (made by Scrapbook & Cards Today as part of a subscription). I also cased two cards from the Celebrations event from earlier this week.

2/17/24

Used a new set today from Hero Arts, and for a change I used colored pencils instead of Copic markers.

2/18/24

Created a card with some of the wax seals I made and used colors from a challenge to inspire my design.

2/19/24

Today I watched a video from Jo Simons called “Embossing Folder Fun!” The video can be found HERE. This is the card I created using one of her techniques.

2/20/24

Today I made another card using one of the wax seals I made.

2/21/24

Today’s card features a never been used die from Lawn Fawn, “Giant Mother’s Day.” You can see the post/card HERE (on 4/6/24).

2/22/24

Found a kit on sale at our local card/scrapbook store and made all four cards that were given as examples for the class.

2/24/24

Getting in the mood for St. Patrick’s Day with a card using a never been used set by Newton’s Nook. Joined the Newton’s Nook Inky Paws Challenge with this one.

2/25/24

I pulled out a set from Lawn Fawn that I got at least 6 or 7 years ago but have never used. It is an interactive card with a “reveal wheel” – turns and several sentiments will show one at a time. Set is called “Fortune Teller Tabby” and I adapted it to be more of a birthday card.

2/26/24

Used new Lawn Fawn sets today, I went a little crazy and bought several of their sports themed dies and stamp sets. This uses the bleacher die and the tiny people sports set. I’m sending this to a friend who is also a big baseball fan.

2/27/24

Today I was inspired by a challenge at Retro Rubber, so I pulled out a die cut set that I got last year and never used to use for the challenge. Tuns out my card doesn’t have any stamping (other than the sentiment) so I couldn’t enter the challenge after all, but I did get a cute card finished anyway!

2/28/24

Used a few things form my “bits and pieces” drawer today. First was a background that was heat embossed in white and sprayed with ink, then I used some Zig markers to add some color.

This card was made with a panel I embossed just to test out my new die cut machine, but never used. The sentiment was recycled from another card I received last year.

Finally I used another background panel I made with ink sprays and an embossing folder that was from my earlier play time. I also used the bunny dies that I had out yesterday, this time with the smaller ones.

2/29/24

Last day of the month and I did manage to finish one last card! Pulled out a set I had because I made several with it a while ago that I sold so I wanted to replace them in my stash. This is the only one I finished so far!
