Festive Friday #122 – National Cake Day

It’s Festive Friday! We have a new challenge starting today, and this time our festivity is “National Cake Day.” We used that to come up with ten items for our Inspo List, and if you would like to join the challenge just choose any 3 (or more) of those items to use on your card or project. Whether or not you follow the theme of the festivity is totally up to you!

The items from the Inspo List that I used on my card were birthday sentiment, candle, embossing paste, and patterned paper. The background behind the cake was made with embossing paste through a stencil, and when dry I blended a little ink around the edges. I stamped the cake (from a Simon Hurley set), colored with Copic markers, and cut it out and completed my card with a birthday sentiment. Below are some close ups of the embossing paste, I just love the way it adds so much dimension and interest to stenciling, well worth the extra clean up time!

  1. Such a special birthday card, Melanie! The mix of papers is lovely together, and the embossed star background is fabulous. The cake is absolutely amazing! Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Melanie I just love this card! The split panel with the coloured rays is lovely but the embossing paste detail takes this card to another level! You’ve inspired me to get messy this week – thank you!

  3. Melanie, this is such a Festive Card! The use of all the DSP just makes me want to Celebrate
