National Lighthouse Day for Festive Friday

It’s Friday and that means we have a new challenge starting at Festive Friday. This time we are recognizing National Lighthouse Day. We used that to come up with 10 items for our Inspo List, but to join in the challenge all you have to do is use any 3 (or more) of those items on your card. You don’t have to follow the festivity if you don’t want to – that’s totally up to you!

The items I used to inspire my card were lighthouse, slimline card, blue, and metallic. I used one shade of Distress Oxide ink to create the background. I love how you can get so much shading and variation by simply “smooshing” the paper into wet ink, drying with a heat tool, and repeating until you are happy with the result.

The die cut I used for the lighthouse was make by Elizabeth Kraft Designs. I used a matte metallic silver paper with the white, and decided I liked the contrast of just those colors, so I didn’t bring any more into my card. I went through all of my stamps (that is not a quick or easy thing to do!) and I couldn’t find a single sentiment that I liked or that was the right size, so I ended up printing the words on my computer and cutting them to fit where I wanted.

  1. Oh, wow, Melanie! This background is absolutely stunning! This lighthouse die cut is amazing. I also love how you created your sentiment. A fabulous card, as always!!!

  2. Your background is fantastic, and you were right to leave it at blue and white with silver. I love the sun die cut you used for the light from the lighthouse, and I LOVE the way you did the sentiment. A really great make for our challenge.
