Watercolor Flowers

Two challenges got me motivated to get out some of my flower stamps and try a little watercoloring. Unfortunately I think it is the “splattering” that I need the practice with. Actually I don’t really know if practice even helps, as I always seem to end up with some misplaced or huge spots or more than I wanted. Oh well, they seemed to give the end result a unique look that I couldn’t change anyway!

I chose the colors from the new challenge at the Paper Players (#536), using black as the neutral. Next I used the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches (#600) for my card design.

I would also like to join the challenge at As You Like It Challenge – Do you prefer embossing or stenciling? – I have to go with embossing, I think adding texture really steps up a card, and there are so many embossing folders to choose from, almost always can find one that fits with my design.

  1. This turned out gorgeous Melanie and I think. Your spattering looks just perfect-sometimes you have to get away from it for a while and then look again to know it is ok :o). Thanks so much for creating with us this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches!!

  2. What a sweet, elegant design. Love the classic polka dot embossed background. It reminds me a bit of the Swiss Dot line of CS Bazzill used to put out (which I just adored – and still do!).

  3. I think your splatters are perfect, what a gorgeous card! I also think you are right, spatters are what they are, so you just have to go with it =). Thanks so much for joining us at As You Like It Challenge!

  4. This is AMAZING! I think your flower is stunning, splatters and all (I LOVE splatters!)!!! And that polka dot EF is equally as amazing…love it! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Paper Players this week!
