Hello! I am sharing a birthday card I made with a new set I just got from Jane’s Doodles. I went a little crazy when I ordered (that is always justified to ensure free shipping) so you may be seeing more of their stamps in the future. This set is called Free As a Bird and has some really cute images.
To get started I looked at several challenges, at CAS Colours & Sketches (#420) they are having a color challenge, so that’s how I chose my colors. I also used the sketch from Less is More (#443) to inspire my design. Finally, I am playing along with the challenge at AAA Cards (#190). They also feature clean and simple cards and this challenge is looking for a card to celebrate their 7th birthday.
The only thing a little different about my card is how I made the bird. I stamped it first on the soft sea foam, then again on the blushing bride. I cut the first out so I could paper piece the wings and tail from the second. I cut off the legs so I could draw them on the purple base, and I also cut off the little feathery thing on the birds head (I have no idea what the proper name is for that!) I had a piece of some weird ribbon/trim with the perfect thing to add on the birds head, which I thought did kind of look like feathers (?) I finished it off with some glittery hearts.

Melanie this is fabulous! Perfectly CAS yet so many lovely details – the whimsy stitched border on your rectangle, the pattern on the bird and as for his special head feathers (on a chicken it would be the comb, but I’m not sure if that’s the case on all birds) it, along with those hearts, is the perfect finishing touch!
