Sunday Challenges

Up early on a Sunday with some quiet time to work on a few cards! This one is from a set by Pinkfresh Studios, which includes the stamp (heat embossed in silver), a set of stencils for all the coloring, and a die cut. The sentiment is also stenciled and then die cut.

I made the background with a Tim Holtz stencil and some chunky embossing paste, I love the sparkle, but I am not used to the “randomness” of mixed media elements!

Challenges entered:

Allsorts #678 – anything but a birthday

My Time To Craft #482 – Thank You

Crafty Catz Challenge #597 – Anything goes w/option “for the girls”

Color My Heart Color Dare #498 – use only shades of purple, blue, green + select neutrals (silver)

My second card was inspired by the challenges at Just Us Girls #634 which is a photo challenge and also by the challenge over at the Card Concept #176. I liked the bike (and knew I had an older well-love bike stamp from Stamps of Life), but went with a summer fruit instead of flowers. Being Memorial Day weekend the flag inspired me as well as the red, white, and blue color scheme. *I think the style of this card would be freestyle collage based on the description at the Card Concept – several unrelated elements in a collection. (Good way to say I’m not sure what to call this!)

  1. Melanie, the background is gorgeous and beautifully sets off the soft colors of the flowers. That’s a lovely stencil grouping. Thank you for joining the challenge at Allsorts this week.

  11. Melanie, what a pretty background to your floral, really shows the sparkle. Great coloring of floral and the silver embossing on the floral softens the flowers. Beautiful card… thanks for sharing with us at Color Dare.
