Blue Birthday

I tried a new stenciling technique today, and incorporated it with a few challenges.

The technique is from the first class of Stenciled 2 at Online Card Classes, and shows you how to do offset stenciling. It’s really easy, and gives an almost 3 dimensional look.

First step is to stencil using dark ink. Next I offset the same stencil slightly (any direction you want) and stenciled over it again with a lighter color in the same family. Finally I offset the stencil again and stencil a third time using glitter embossing paste. (You could do this step with white ink for a different look.)

I cut a Happy Birthday die cut and added some larger stars to complete the card.

Joining in the challenges at My Time to Craft #507 with a theme of “Monochromatic,” and the challenges at If You Give a Crafter a Cookie #180 and Colorful Options May Challenge, both are featuring the color Blue this month.
