CAS Color Challenge

Today’s card is for the new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches (#416) where I am happy to be playing along as the guest designer for April. This week is a color challenge, as shown below. (The names refer to Stampin’ Up colors, however using colors that are similar to those is acceptable!)

I have to say I kept this card very simple! I actually made a couple other attempts, but none ended up like I had planned (often my mind is better at envisioning things than my skills are at actually making them) so I went with what seemed to be the most clean and simple.

Please visit the CAS Colours & Sketches blog for all the details to enter and to check out the inspiration from the design team.

I would also like to join in the Twofer Card Challenge #37 which has a theme of “Leaves.” This is a really fun challenge that looks for using the same stamp, die, or stencil in two different ways. After using the leaves for my CAS card I thought that I would use them in a more typical way for my second card. The image on the second card is from My Favorite Things.

Playing along with this card at these other challenges:

Creative Craft Cottage #139 – include an animal

Dragon Fly Dreams – feature a creature

Craft Rocket #80 and Dream Valley (#246) – for a child

Moving Along with the Times #129 – animals or birds

Happy Little Stampers – anything goes with die cuts

  1. This is a fabulous duo, Melanie. You’ve really demonstrated how one die can be utilized in two completely different designs! Being a lover of all things CAS, I’m quite taken with your first card. All of the white space really highlights those pretty colored leaves; they absolutely shine. And your sweet little leopard is adorable tucked on his branch among those same leaves! Wonderful cards. So happy you were able to join us at The Twofer Challenge. Hope to see you there again! Stay safe. Bev

  2. Two gorgeous cards Melanie and I particularly like the one you made for us at CAS Colours and Sketches! The leaves look wonderful in the trio of colours and I like the way you offset your panel too. Vicky x

  3. Both of these cards are fabulous, Melanie! I love the fun colored leaves and great layout! All that white space makes the leaves even brighter! What a great idea to put this adorable leopard in the branches! Love the embossed background too! Thanks so much for sharing with us at The Twofer Challenge!

  4. My CAS-loving heart is loving your birthday card, Melanie, and I think it’s a perfect take on the color challenge and a perfect reminder that leaves don’t have to be green! Then you showed your wonderful design range with your second adorable design! I love the woodgrain background, the leafy vines, that adorable little tiger, and awesome sediment! Thank you for playing in TCC #37! Hugs, Darnell

  5. Oh my goodness how gorgeous. Your birthday card is so simple and beautiful, I love that pop of pink. How cute is your second card? Just adorable. Alison Twofer GD

  6. I love how you combined your guest designer card for us at CC&S with Darnell’s Twofer.
